Vasquez, a former battle rapper and member of the Molemen, is bringing his musical roots to the festival, performing as AV & the Unks. The ensemble will play cover songs from 90s hip-hop artists like A Tribe Called Quest and the Notorious B.I.G., with a family-friendly twist. Vasquez, who found his voice and community through hip-hop in Chicago, sees this performance as a return to his artistic beginnings. Despite his current role as an alderman, Vasquez continues to express himself artistically, bringing murals and the Ainslie Arts Plaza to the neighborhood.
